In Stitches

February 13, 2013

You guys, how did it get to be February so quickly? And how did February get to be half-over even faster? Yikes. This year is flying by, and this blog needs to keep up. I’ll try to post at least one new post a week from now on.

So, what’s been going on with me? Well, I recently started sewing again. Yes, you already knew that. But what you didn’t know is that I graduated into srsly big patterns (for me, at least).

Check out this rockin’ robin I made for my grandmother-in-law for Christmas! She lives in Michigan. (That may be obvious.) Unfortunately, I didn’t measure the fabric correctly, so there wasn’t room for the border. But I still think it turned out pretty well.

I also made this mockingbird for my step-grandmother. You can probably guess where she lives. Alas, he was not finished in time for Christmas; but better late than never.

Wrinkled, but wonderful.

Both of these patterns were purchased from Robin’s Design on Etsy (the patterns are her copyright, not mine). If you’re into cross-stitching, you really need to check her stuff out, especially if you have a treasured photo and would love a custom cross-stitch pattern made of it. Also check out the delightfully dirty-mouthed Subversive Cross Stitch, and the fantastic-beyond-all-words Steotch (Etsy store here, gallery here). David bought me this great “Arrested Development”-themed pattern, which I need to sew soon. And I bought myself some of these Christmas ornament patterns. Hopefully they’ll be done in time for Christmas 2013. Or at least 2014.

Wow, those turned out really well! This is only the second and third designs of mine that I’ve seen stitched by someone other than me (and I’ve sold hundreds). Thanks for the mention of my shop as well.

Glad you liked them! And you’re very welcome for the mention. Hope it led to some sales. Once I get caught up on my current pile o’ crafts, I want to buy some more of your patterns, too!
