Once More Unto the Beach, Dear Friends
What has two thumbs and knows she’s super behind on her South Padre Island blog posts? This girl. (points at self)
I’ve been caught up in book revisions and work, but those blog posts are coming soon. I just have to go through my photos and narrow down the selections. There are so many great pictures from that trip. I even documented the sunrise one morning. The sky literally changed color every few seconds. I’d forgotten about that. And it’s so important to remember stuff like that. To look around and see how the world is beautiful every day.
In the meantime, here’s a picture David took of Gerry, an Atlantic Green sea turtle. He’s one of the residents at Sea Turtle, Inc., an organization that rescues and rehabilitates sea turtles. (I first visited Sea Turtle, Inc. in Girl Scout camp when I was like 10 or 11, and I never forgot hearing the Turtle Lady speak.) Gerry’s just one of their residents. He eats more than 500 heads of Romaine lettuce a year. 500, YOU GUYS. That’s a lot of roughage.
More to come soon. In the meantime, would you consider adopting a sea turtle or hatchling? Hatchlings are only $10. Think of it as a pet that you never have to feed or clean up after. Makes a great and unique Christmas gift!
